Stuff I've made recently

New Shelves in the kids room.
A game table with a reversible top. One side for chess & checkers...
... the other for Scrabble.
And another bath-mat/area rug made out of old t-shirts. I dyed a few of the shirts green, and they turned out really nice I think.

Soccer

WE've decided to register Nils to play soccer in October. It's a pretty laid back local league and lots of kids Nils knows will be playing in the same league. Anyhow we went to get him a ball and shinguards and he was so excited. We put the shinguards on when we got home, and he wouldn't take them off for the rest of the day.
Walter liked the ball, but not for playing soccer with.

The 'Puter

Dad got some new computer parts, Mormor and Morfar sent some of their old computer parts home with me, and we always have some computer parts laying about. We decided that we have enough to cobble together a little set up for Nils and Walter. Nils has loved helping put it all together, and kept shouting "We build it the puter!"

Best cat in the world

Tycho can be a bit of a pest. He knocks stuff off the counter on purpose just for fun, and he often meows at me several times a night to be let in or out. He also catches crickets, and I've never seen a scorpion in the house, unlike most all our neighbors. But I think what makes him the best cat in the world is summed up by this picture.
That is him sitting on Walter's lap letting Walter play with his ears. He's scratched me, and lots of other people, but he's never scratched the kids. Even when they deserve it.

Trip to Prescott

We went to Prescott recently. Nils had fun with the toy wheelbarrow picking up black walnuts until the ants who guard the walnut tree got in his sandals and up his shorts. He would only go back outside after he was sprayed with bug spray, wearing long pants, socks and boots. He kept saying "Now the ants not bite me!"

And they both got to ride the pony.

I liked this picture of Nils. It's as if he and the pony are both keeping an eye on the other.

Decorated

While I was cleaning the bathroom Nils started playing with our pins. After a few minutes we managed to get every pin we own on him.

Wally

To convert Walter to Wally add a button down shirt, too short pants, white socks, and nerdy glasses with tape on the rims.

I Robot

This is Walter and Nils being Robots by putting laundry baskets on their heads. I really like Walter's monotone "I robot!"

Builder

Nils has taken to building very large complex airplanes, ships, and cars out of his legos. He really likes when we take pictures of them, so here are a couple he's made recently.

Novocain Face

Nils went to the dentist for the first time two weeks ago and had two fillings done. The dentist sedated him, and he did really great while he was at the office. When we got him home he was really upset about his numb face and kept crying at me wanting me to fix it. He finally fell asleep and slept it off.

Faster! Faster!

Two Turtle Dove... Eggs

I pass a palo verde on the way to the mailbox. Recently when I pass a dove flies away frantically. I looked a little closer and discovered that there is a nest there not even five feet away from the sidewalk and about 6 feet up in the air. I took this picture just by holding the camera over my head. Maybe the bird will even let me take a picture of the chicks when they hatch.
